A Guide to Raiding by Aengelique

I’m not a hard-core raider but this guide is taken from my experiences in raiding along with one raider’s website (http://elvencraft.com/lotro/) & includes input from some of my raider buddies. This is just to give you an idea of how you should behave when in raids, whether they are KoV kin runs, pugs, or mixed.

Some raid leaders can be harsh and a bit elitist, so if you’re not geared correctly you may not get a spot on their raiding team.

Raiding Etiquette

Courtesy • Honesty • Punctuality • Preparedness • Loot • Obedience

Be courteous & honest with other players.
Keep the chatter down during raids. Radio silence may be appropriate.
Chatter should be kept pg-13. No cussing or prejudice during raiding.
Be on time. Be online & ready to go at least 15 mins. before scheduled raids.
Be prepared. Bathe, eat, drink, bio, repair, sell, & resupply before the raid begins. Make sure your raiding kit is well-stocked.
Don't go AFK during combat without permission.
If you cannot devote the time to the raid then don’t sign up to go.
Roll smart. Don’t take loot you can’t use or don’t need.
Do not make pulls unless told to do so.
Do not run in front of the raid leader unless told to do so.
Always listen to & obey the raid leader. If you disagree with the leader it’s fine to voice your opinion but don’t attack them in front of the entire raid. It makes you & your kin look badly.

Game Knowledge

Make sure your in-game audio is enabled so you can hear your raid leader.
In-game music and miscellaneous sounds should be turned off or down to 10% so you can hear your raid leader.
If you tend to have lag issues, reset your internet router before logging in.
You should already be familiar with the LOTRO user interface.
Enable raid/target assist.
Turn off all buffs for your fellowship & enable only effects cast by you.
Turn off auto attack & target skill forwarding.
Know your class skills by name and function.
Know how to contribute to fellowship maneuvers.
Be aware of and avoid monsters & puddles.
Pot your poisons/wounds/fear/diseases immediately.

Traits

Virtues should be slotted according to class and personal preference.
All virtues should be maxed for endgame content.

Equipment

Good equipment comes from instances, crafting, reputation vendors, and quests. It is up to you to decide what is best for your class. Make sure to ask experienced players of your class for advice.

Raiding Kit

Money • Travel Rations • Food • Potions • Scrolls • Tokens

Carry full stacks of the following items at all times:
• 2 Gold minimum for emergency supplies and repairs
• Travel Rations (100)
• Cooked Food (50)
• Trail Food
• Hope Tokens (20)
• Battle & Warding Lore Scrolls (20 each)
• Morale & Power Potions (50 each)
• Level 80 Wound, Disease, Poison, & Fear Potions (50 each)
• Appropriate class specific supplies:
Bow Chants • Fire-oil • Lute Strings • Spikes • Traps • Marbles • Horns

Skirmish Soldier

A fully leveled Skirmish Soldier is important for skirmish raids (skraids).

While some may choose a Warrior, Protector, Archer, Bannerguard, or Sage, the Herbalist is the required role, since it heals, provides power, & doesn’t pull on its own.

Level the following traits to max:
•Attribute: Herbalist (the remaining slots are for cosmetic attributes)
•Skill: Nature's Cure, Nature's Power, Refreshing Herbs, Ultimate: Words of Healing
•Training: Boundless Morale, Boundless Resolve, Tactical Potency, Resurgent Power
•Personal: as appropriate for your class
